Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SD’: Ph.D. in relevant fields with a Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc) and a Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc) in specified disciplines with minimum prescribed marks (60% to 65% depending on the level).
  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ (Engineering-based): M.E./M.Tech in relevant engineering discipline with 60% marks and B.E./B.Tech with 65% marks.
  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ (Science-based): M.Sc in relevant subjects with 65% marks and B.Sc with 60% marks.

Age Limit (as on 12.02.2026)

  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SD’: 18 to 35 Years.
  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ (M.E./M.Tech based): 18 to 30 Years.
  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ (M.Sc based): 18 to 28 Years.
  • Age relaxations apply for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India rules.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay the application fee online via the Bharatkosh portal.

  • Scientist/Engineer ‘SD’: No application fee.
  • Other Posts: ₹750 (Initial payment).
  • Refund Policy: For 'SC' posts, the full fee is refunded to women, SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-servicemen who appear for the written test. Other candidates will receive a refund of ₹500 after the written test.

Salary and Allowances

Successful candidates will receive a competitive salary package as per the 7th Pay Commission along with central government benefits.

Selection Process

The selection methodology varies depending on the grade of the post:

  • For Scientist/Engineer ‘SD’: Shortlisting based on academic performance followed by a Personal Interview. Selection is based purely on interview performance.
  • For Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’: A two-stage process consisting of a Written Test (covering Discipline-specific MCQs, Aptitude, and Technical Descriptive questions) followed by a Personal Interview. The final merit list is prepared with 50% weightage to the written test and 50% weightage to the interview.
