SECL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Notification Overview
South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Mini Ratna company and a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has released an official recruitment notification for the engagement of Graduate and Technician Apprentices for the financial year 2026-27. A total of 1600 apprenticeship training seats are available across various engineering and general streams.
This recruitment is conducted under the Apprentices Act 1961. Candidates possessing a relevant degree or diploma and registered on the NATS 2.0 portal are eligible to apply. The training will be provided in the Opencast and Underground Mines and various establishments of SECL located in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 31.03.2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Upper Age Limit: No upper age limit prescribed in the notification.
- Note: Candidates must have completed 18 years of age by the closing date of the application.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate Apprentices: Must possess a 4-year B.E./B.Tech, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, or BCA degree in the relevant discipline from a government-recognised institution (Full-time regular mode).
- Technician Apprentices: Must possess a 3-year Diploma in the relevant engineering branch (Full-time regular mode). Lateral entry diplomas (2 years after 12th) are eligible, but 1-year diplomas are not permitted.
- NATS Registration: Candidates must be registered on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) portal.
Application Fee
There is no application fee mentioned in the official notification for any category of candidates. Application is free of cost.
Stipend and Allowances
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the Apprenticeship Rules 1992. The payment is split 50% by SECL and 50% by the Government through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
- Graduate Apprentices: ₹12,300 per month
- Technician Apprentices: ₹10,900 per month
Selection Process
The selection is based purely on merit using the following criteria:
- Seniority by Year of Passing: Candidates who passed their degree/diploma earlier will be given preference.
- Academic Performance: In case of a tie in the year of passing, the percentage of marks in the qualifying Degree/Diploma will be considered.
- Tie-breaker: If marks are also equal, 12th/10th marks followed by Date of Birth (older candidate first) will be used.
- Regional Preference: Level-1 list (Candidates from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh) will be prioritised over Level-2 list (Other states).

- Visit the official NATS 2.0 portal and complete your registration if not already done.
- Go to the official SECL website at www.secl-cil.in.
- Navigate to the HRD section and select Apprentice.
- Click on the online application link for Graduate/Technician Apprentices 2026-27.
- Register using your NATS-registered email ID and log in.
- Fill in the mandatory details, including educational qualifications and bank details.
- Upload the required documents (Degree/Diploma certificates, marksheets, Aadhaar, and NATS document).
- Review your details and click on 'Final Submit' before the deadline.
- Print the submitted application form for future reference during document verification.
Important Instructions
- Only online applications submitted through the SECL portal after NATS registration will be accepted.
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training or have one year of work experience are not eligible.
- OBC certificates must be issued on or after 01.04.2025 to be valid for reservation.
- Apprenticeship training does not guarantee any regular employment or absorption in SECL.
- Medical fitness certificates must be issued after the notification date as per Mines Rules 1955.
